Transforming Well-wishes into Wellbeing: Every card funds wellbeing initiatives in the community

Scottish Publisher Pioneers New Model for Mental Health Support
As mental health challenges continue to rise across the UK, with over 37% of women and 30% of men experiencing anxiety and depression, a Moray-based business is pioneering an innovative approach to funding vital community support. Brilliantly Brave, exhibiting at Scotland's Trade Fair, is redefining what a greeting card publisher can be by channelling 100% of profits into mental health initiatives.

"Mental health support shouldn't be a luxury," explains Jean Pryde, co-founder and mental health professional with over 20 years of experience. "With UK public health budgets decreased by £770 million in real terms since 2014, we're facing a critical funding gap. Our model offers a sustainable solution - turning everyday purchases into meaningful community support."

The impact is already evident. Since launching, Brilliantly Brave has:

  • Funded 25 free one-to-one coaching sessions
  • Delivered multiple 16-person Mental Health First Aid courses
  • Established two monthly menopause support groups
  • Launched an LGBTQ+ Community Drop-in
  • Donated £500 to local peer-support initiatives

"It's simple mathematics with powerful impact," adds Stuart Cox, co-founder. "For every 1,000 cards we sell, we can put sixteen people through Mental Health First Aid Training. That's sixteen more community members equipped to support others in crisis. Those individuals could be your friends, your family - or you."

The company's approach is resonating strongly with retailers and consumers alike. Despite being less than a year old, Brilliantly Brave has secured stockists from Dingwall to Cornwall and received six nominations at the prestigious Henries Awards.

"We're not just making mental health 'inspired' cards and pocketing the profits," Jean emphasises. "We're creating good-looking cards looking to do good. Every purchase works twice - once for the recipient, offering thoughtfully crafted support, and again for someone in the community who may never be met."

At Scotland's Trade Fair, visitors can discover how this innovative model is transforming the greeting card industry while addressing crucial community needs. "We're proving that purpose and profit can work hand in hand," Stuart notes. "By prioritising community wellbeing over personal gain, we're creating a sustainable cycle of support that grows stronger with every card sold."
