Studio Yoki
Hi, I’m Emma, the potter behind Studio Yōki - a small batch ceramic studio based in Glasgow.
With a background in fine art I found myself steering towards pottery (having fallen in love with pinching clay!) and launched Studio Yōki in 2022. My studio focuses on creating one of a kind homewares that add a little joy to other people’s homes.
I adore flowers and plants and my products reflect this passion. While you may not find me offering a full set of dinnerware like a traditional potter, my speciality lies in ceramics for botanics. So alongside a quirky selection of homewares, you will find an array of vases to fit any floral need.
Each piece I make is truly one of a kind. By using traditional handbuilding techniques like pinching and coiling, each pinch of clay tells a tale of the maker's hands, producing a characterful piece of pottery. I want to celebrate this organic nature in every piece I create.
From materials and energy usage to water waste and packaging, I implement a range of ways to ensure my plant-loving pottery studio is as sustainable as possible. You can read more about this on my website.
‘Yōki’ is the Japanese word for vessel and is a nod to my fine art roots when I titled all my works in Japanese. ‘Yōki’ embodies my commitment to a studio that first and foremost makes me happy, while providing carefully crafted pottery as an alternative to mass-produced homewares.
