Darach
Darach is Gaelic for "oak" and appropriately we make beautiful, functional furniture and smaller gift items from spent oak whisky casks. From the smallest tealight or glass holder, serving platter or board to our stunning range of tables, chairs, benches, bookcases, lamps and more, there is something to suit every space and budget.
We are a small family run company and have been Trade Fair regulars for 13 years. Darach started as a hobby, working from our garage at home, but as business grew so did the need for space, and we now operate from our workshop, close to the Caledonian Canal, in Inverness.
Every Darach item is hand made. We fully respect the tradition and beauty behind each whisky cask and try to maintain its character in our work. Darach pieces reflect the fissures and rustic features of the wood and just as every stave, ring and barrel head is different, no two Darach pieces are ever the same.
We aim to be as sustainable as possible, incorporating every part of the barrel into our designs and using any offcuts to heat our workshop. We try to keep packaging to a minimum and recycle boxes and wrapping as much as we can.
Our loyal band of stockists is very important to us and we respect and value these relationships. Most of our work is sold via trade customers - we don't generally sell direct ourselves - so Scotland's Trade Fair features strongly in our calendar and we are very much looking forward to seeing you in Glasgow in January.
