Chimene Taylor Glass

I am a glass and textile artist living and working in Orkney. I did apprenticeships in both tapestry weaving and glass, including numerous masterclasses with internationally known glass artists. I specialise in an ancient technique of fusing glass called pate de verre where I produce sculptural art using glass powders and Frits which I then fuse in a kiln. I love working with texture and layers which is prominent in my pieces. In some of my sculptures I combine glass with tapestry weaving, fusing both media. My inspiration comes from nature, landscape and conceptual ideas. I love both the beauty and imperfection of nature which makes it unique. Gaining inspiration from the concept of wabisabi I have modified the kintsugi technique which I use in some of my pieces to enhance the the natural imperfections, making each piece unique.
